Galt Women Facing Charges after Assault on Mother

August 19, 2020

Two Galt residents, Amber Gann, 27, and Toni Yarbrough, 26, are facing felony assault charges after allegedly assaulting their 44 year-old mother at a wedding at the Spillman Event Center in Jamesport.
According to a probable cause statement prepared by Deputy Loreanna Parker from the Daviess County Sheriff’s office, Gann, Yarbrough and the victim were at the Spillman Event center on Saturday, August 8, 2020 attending a wedding.
Yarbrough allegedly grabbed her mother, identified as victim D.H., “by the hair and threw her to the ground. She then grabbed her in a ‘bear hug’ around her rib cage, wrapped her legs around the victim, while her sister, Amber Gann, repeatedly punched and kicked the victim, D.H., in the face.” The assault caused serious physical injuries to the victim, including a broken nose and multiple facial fractures, which will require surgery. The victim also complained of rib pain from being squeezed by Yarbrough and pain to the back of her head due to Yarbrough pulling her hair.
Both Gann and Yarbrough were intoxicated at the time of the assault according to Deputy Parkers’ report and had to be physically restrained by bystanders. Gann also stated that she was “going to kill” the victim, D.H.
The probable cause statement further states that the victim believes the assault was the result of Yarbrough believing that she, the victim, put on a better wedding on the day of the assault, than she put on for Yarbrough last year.
Both Gann and Yarbrough were charged with Domestic Assault in the First Degree, a B felony and were denied bond due to the courts belief that the defendants will not appear upon the issuance of a summons, and that they are a danger to themselves and the community.
