Grades 5-9 studied the Mayans and the Egyptians. They made Mayan temples and masks, learned how the Mayans gave us the 365 day year, time in terms of 60 minutes/seconds, and algebra. They also learned how to play a Mayan game called Pok-A-Tok, learned how and why Egyptians mummified their dead, and made their own potato mummies (that we will look at when school starts in the Fall to see how preserved they are).
They got to eat foods that the Mayans and Egyptians ate and for fun, also got to try some candy from Mexico and Japan!!
