Betty Gentry, an 87 year old Trenton resident, passed away at 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe, MO
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at the First Christian Church of Trenton. Inurnment at a later date in the Edinburg Cemetery.
Betty Jo Gentry was born July 14, 1932 in Trenton to Junyer and Elva (Witten) Crawford. On November 25, 1948 she was married to Delbert Gentry. She graduated from Trenton High School with the class of 1950. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Trenton. In her early years Betty worked at Wright Memorial Hospital and later was a bookkeeper for the Trenary Sand Plant. Mostly, Betty worked as a housewife, mother and grandmother.
Betty loved spending time with and caring for her grandkids. She played many roles: taxi driver, babysitter, great cook, party hostess, and more. Halloween was one of her favorite holidays, always dressing up for the kids.
Surviving relatives include her daughters Deanna Gentry of Houston, Tx and Karen (Melvin) Saul of Trenton, brother Newt (Wilma) Crawford of Kearney, Mo and son-in-law Scott Allen of Kansas City, MO. Grandchildren Kari (Ian) Abernathy and Alisha (Jason) Young both of Carlsbad,CA, Eric Allen of Newbury Park, CA, Tiffany (Johnny) Norris of Marshall,MO, Craig (Michelle) McCracken of Sedalia, MO, Emily Boggs and companion Kyle Hickman of Columbia, MO, Kadi (Rod) Gamble of Brimson, MO, Hilary (Adam) Cooksey of Laredo, MO, and Marcia (Tim) Kempton of Trenton. Step grandchildren George (Connie) Saul of Gaston, OR, Jeff (Jeri) Saul of Trenton, and Jeanna (Woody) Cooper of Hale,MO. 20 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, and 5 step great, great grandchildren.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, husband, brothers Raymond, Donald, Norman and Ben Crawford, and sisters Huella Oyler and Wilmadean Grace Dean.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
