Brent and Marianne Kenagy, shown above on the right, are shown handing over the key to Jamesport Grocery to Brandon and Ginny Noffsinger on the left. Mr. and Mrs. Noffsinger recently purchased the grocery store from Mr. and Mrs. Kenagy and took possesion on August 17th.
The Kenagys have owned the store for the past 20 years. They purchased the store from Stan Peery and took over the business in November 2000 at the former location next door to Home Exchange Bank. The store was moved to the present location in December 2013.
Going into the grocery business was a new experience for the Kenagys back in 2000, and it will be a new experience for the Noffsingers as well. Neither couple had been in the grocery business previously.
Brandon and Ginny are excited about their new venture which is totally different than their previous jobs.
Brandon grew up and went to school in Valley Center, Kansas, near Wichita, and has worked in the construction business. He said he had always wanted to be in the retail business and Ginny is an experienced bookkeeper. She grew up in the Jamesport community and has experience in bookkeeping. She says she loves to come to work every day. They feel it is a good opportunity for them and plan to keep the same employees and hours. Brandon and Ginny are the parents of two sons, Bentley, 3 and Oliver, 2.
They plan to continue with great customer service, making customers their priority and build on community service.
Mr. Kenagy stepped into the grocery business 20 years ago after being in the sheet rock and furniture finishing business, and now the couple will be going into another business after their move to Ohio.
Brent enjoys outdoor projects such as greenhouses and plants; therefore, they have purchased an 18 acre farm and plan to grow blueberries on part of the property. It will be known as the Berry Bliss Farm. In addition to the blueberries, they will be adding more berries in the future.
The move to Homeworth, Ohio will be a new adventure for the Kenagys, but the area is also known to Marianne, as she taught school there, and has made lasting friends who reside in the area. Also their oldest daughter Kayla 19 resides there and they will be accompanied by another daughter Emily who is 16.
It was a difficult decision to pull up roots and move to a different state with new surroundings, but the Kenagys felt the Lord moved them to do something different and they will be moving next week.
