Constitution Party Rally in Jamesport City Park
Supporters of the Constitution Party held their first rally in Daviess County on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the Jamesport City Park. There were over 50 people in attendance to hear several speakers, including Daviess County Sheriff-Elect Larry Adams, talk about the Constitution and importance of retaining our rights.
Staff Sargent Bill Donoho of the Missouri Militia informed those present that by law, everyone is a member of the Missouri Militia which was organized, albeit loosely, in 1861. The only exceptions to being a part of and training with the militia are those people who have been convicted of a felony or persons with
a domestic
abuse charge against them. The Militia is called out in times of emergency and was the first organization on the scene at the devastating tornadoes in Joplin several years ago. For further information on joining their organization visit www.missourimilitia.com
Paul Venable, Constitution Party candidate for Missouri Secretary of State spoke on the importance of going back to the Constitution as it was written and intended by the Founding Fathers. He pointed out a few of the places where government has gone astray from that inspirational document that provided the framework for the United States of America.
Sue Venable, Paul’s wife, spoke passionately on the Rights of the People and how those rights, given to us by God and further guaranteed us by the Constitution, have been increasingly infringed upon. She believes that one of the most important things that any person can do to further the cause of liberty in this country today is to host Constitution classes in their home with neighbors. Educating oneself and others is paramount to keeping our liberties. Free materials can be obtained from several sources including www.peoplesrights.org and Hillsdale College who offers free Constitution classes www.online.hillsdale.edu
Those present also heard from Sheriff-Elect Larry Adams. Sheriff Adams made it clear that he “will be a Sheriff that supports the Constitution”. He reiterated that once a right is given away, it is almost impossible to get it back. Further, Sheriff Adams stated that the Sheriff is the “gatekeeper”, protecting citizen’s rights and safety, not just enforcing the law.
After a short break, one of the owners of a new local business, My Hunny’s Kitchen spoke about food preservation. Ginger Williams explained that dehydration was the best way to preserve food in case of emergencies since it was very light to pack and carry. The freeze-drying process is a better dehydrating method, improving the end product.
And finally, three (3) local herbalists spoke on various aspects of herbalism. Elaine Kettring, Darlene Hopkins and Hannah Thomas each spoke on various aspects of herbs, both cultivated and wild-crafted. One common thread for each of them is that knowing those plants that can help in times of need for either food or medicine may become very important.
Informational displays and literature for interested attendees was provided by the Missouri Militia, representatives of the John Birch Society and People’s Rights. My Hunny’s Kitchen also supplied information and samples. For more information up upcoming events, contact Dan or Connie Plemons at 660-441-4532.
